Bees can be intimidating, as many of us have had the unfortunate experience of getting stung by a honey bee at some point in our lives.
With over 20,000 species of bees on earth, only eight are known as honey bees. These bees, belonging to the genus "apis" (Latin for bees), rely on pollen and nectar from flowers as their only source of food. They are also the world's most important pollinators of food crops, with an estimated one-third of the food consumed by humans being pollinated primarily by bees.
These bee drawings are part of a personal project – an illustrated video – that I have been working on between paid commissions.
