I’m thrilled to introduce you to a brand-new book I had the pleasure of working on with the wonderfully talented Dr Fionn Ó Marcaigh (TCD, Zoology). His insightful and beautifully written text for Encounters with corvids made illustrating and designing this book an absolute joy.
This project, supported by the Arts Council Ireland, is especially close to my heart, as it combines not only the most amazing family of birds, but also science, storytelling, and art to celebrate the intelligence, adaptability, and beauty of Ireland’s seven native corvids – rook, jay, hooded crow, jackdaw, chough, magpie, and raven. Each chapter offers a fascinating glimpse into these birds' lives, blending personal encounters, folklore, and scientific insights in a way that will captivate birdwatchers and nature lovers alike.
The book was published by Natural World Publishing in late April 2025.
