I have dozens of drawings in my filing cabinet, most of them are part of various large commissions
(I usually draw species separately and combine them on my computer when designing the final artwork, together with the text, if required),
so there's always a chance I might have exactly what you need :)

Mayo County Council – Biodiversity pull-up banner

Biodiversity is not an abstract concept. It is the network of plants, animals, fungi and other organisms that make up the living world around us, together with the habitats and ecological relationships that support them.

Communicating that complexity clearly to the public is one of the challenges of biodiversity work. This project for Mayo County Council gave me an opportunity to use illustration and graphic design to help make that message more accessible.

Working with the county’s biodiversity officer, I created the design and wildlife illustrations for a pull-up banner intended for use at public events and community activities. The banner provides a portable visual resource to promote awareness of local biodiversity and encourage people to take an active interest in protecting it.

For me, projects like this demonstrate how wildlife illustration can work well beyond books and prints. A carefully considered illustration can attract attention in a busy event environment, make a complex subject more approachable and give people a visual entry point into a conversation about nature.

The design needed to balance several things at once: clear communication, strong visual impact, accurate wildlife representation and practical requirements for an event display. The result is a piece of environmental communication that can travel to different locations and support the biodiversity officer's work in engaging with local communities.

I particularly value working on projects that have a direct connection to Ireland's natural environment. Biodiversity officers play an important role in bringing conservation into local communities, helping people understand the wildlife and habitats around them and supporting practical action at a county level.

This project is part of my wider work combining wildlife illustration, graphic design and biodiversity communication. I’m interested in creating visual resources that do more than decorate a page or space: they should help people notice, understand and care about the natural world.

From pull-up banners and interpretation boards to biodiversity action plans, educational publications and wildlife murals, I enjoy finding the right visual language for projects with a genuine environmental purpose.
